The "New Evangelization" Summed Up...

[EDIT: Below is a comment I posted to the Remnant article The New Evangelization: Making the Exception the Rule that I thought deserved a wider audience, mainly because of its inescapable truth.]

"It seems to me the the "New Evangelization" is now into its, what? 3rd, 4th, 5th or is its 10th?- metamorphosis? A dang butterfly goes through the process only once in its life, becoming - by God's Will and Grace - something more beautiful than at its creation. Has the Catholic Church become more beautiful in the years and decades since VII? We must remember the after-effects of VII - the illicit and illegal suppression of the Tridentine Mass; the emptying of the seminaries; the rising of the homosexual lobby within the Church; the nuns forsaking convent life for a bus and the road; Catholic religious openly promoting contraception and homosexuality; etc, etc.
If the Catholic Church was nothing more than a global business whose Board of Directors decided to try a new business model to increase growth and its world-wide presence, the failures of VII would have caused them to shut it down within two years and revert back to the original business model that was instituted by the Founder and still-current Owner - Jesus Christ.
My question is: Why hasn't it?"

As a second corollary, of sorts, if we no longer need to preach for the conversion of the Jewish race, why, then, is there a need to preach and convert anyone at all to the True Faith? Why preach to bring back lapsed Catholics to their Faith of youth? Why preach to return apostates to the Faith of their Baptism? Why preach to heal the centuries-old rift between the Eastern Orthodox and Rome? Why even the need for The New Evangelization? Why doesn't the Catholic Church simply - and silently - co-exist with the other "religions" and without all this talk of conversion-that-we-don't-really-want-to-preach-but-have-to-because-its-expected talk?

  • Either you no longer need to preach conversion to the One   True Faith, or you do...

  • Either you are required to belong to the One True Faith to gain Heaven or you are not...

  • Either it is a Truth that "Upon this Rock I will build my Church" suppresses all other false religions, or it is not....

  • Either there is a Heaven where only the just reign with Christ, or there is no Hell wherein all go to Heaven regardless to whichever deity they happen to give their fealty.

What an ambiguous, and self-expressionist world I find myself living in...

RE: “It’s time to establish a greater solidarity with Islam”

sol·i·dar·i·ty

Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles: “It’s time to establish a greater solidarity with Islam”

Dear Los Angeles Diocese:

If the recent assaults in Germany haven't opened your eyes as to the solidarity of Islam, then I have to doubt your belief in the One True Faith.

Islam has and will always remain an enemy of the Roman Catholic Church founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ, and outside of which no one will enter Heaven (except via true invincible ignorance, of which most Western people cannot claim since the birth of the internet and Google.) Our Lord Himself said: "Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat."

There can never be any "solidarity" between Islam and the One True Church, just as there could never be any solidarity with Nazism, Fascism or Communism. All four are diametrically opposed to Christ's Teaching and His Church. They all were then - and Islam will always remain now -  an enemy of the Catholic Faith. There can be only one resolution for any involved within Islam's ideology: conversion to the One True Faith and assured Salvation.

"Extra ecclesiam nulla salus" is still a clearly defined doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church, even though many of its clerics clearly don't agree with it.

I am a baby-boomer and I retain within my Catholic mind the glories of Roman Catholicism, whether those memories be of the pre-Vatican II liturgy or of the martyrs of the Catacombs. My generation is dying out and many of us will be but wormy corpses in a few more years. What this means for you is that the solidarity you desire can only be accomplished in toto by attrition through death. It's kind of a sad modus-operandi you must undertake to accomplish your goal, is it not?

No sane Catholic will ever believe solidarity with Islam can ever exist. And since there will always be sane Catholics around in every generation until the last, despite the attrition rate of the pre-Vatican II Baby-boomers, your goal will always be an elusive one. Which brings up another well known doctrine of the Catholic Church you need to remember:

"...and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

Nor will your current thought process prevail against me.

More on the SSPX & Rome...

via The Eponymous Flower from Wednesday, December 30, 2015:

Father Schmidberger Foresees Canonical Recognition of the SSPX

In the Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has agreed to extend an indult to the Priests of the Society of St. Pius X, to hear confessions. Former Superior, Father Franz Schmidberger forsees canonical recognition of the Society as well as greater cooperation.

In a recent interview, former superior of the Fraternity talks to La Stampa saying, "I trust that in the near future we can find solutions to recover full communion."

According Schmidberger Pope Francis' gesture will not be complete at the end of the Jubilee. "Indeed" - says Schmidberger - "it is hard to imagine that this is limited to the Holy Year, nor do I think this is the limit of the Pope's idea. Perhaps at first other similar gestures are to follow. No doubt - it seems - the Pope sees in our Fraternity a force that can be of help to, as many have claimed, the new evangelization.

Read the rest here...

Father Schmidberger has said what I've been saying at the office since the Year of Mercy pronouncement for the SSPX priests: there is no going back now...the only movement is forward until Rome and the SSPX have verbally and canonically agreed to walk through the Mercy Door. To do anything less will be to paint the Year of Mercy as only a selective venture in fact.

The Holy Ghost is still working, I think....

2015: A Confusing End / 2016: A Thankful Beginning

2016 is now upon us.

2015 closed - for me, anyway - with concern, confusion and uncertainty. Which is probably a good thing, for it keeps one pinned precisely to God and to Our Blessed Lord as one discovers that alone, he cannot "fix" anything.  A wise priest once told me that we must have Christ with us always, but even then there are those difficulties in our lives that only HE alone can truly fix; that only HE can truly repair. I believe we earth-bound men continually struggle with acknowledging this fact until its realization finally dawns in our prideful head during a crisis, which should then serve as a reminder not only of HIS Greatness, but of our nothingness.

Consider the last few months of 2015 that comprised fear, discouragement, frustration and just plain old don't-give-a-damn-anymore:

  • A possible cancer diagnosis;
  • An overwhelming discouragement about this damnable parental estrangement with most of my children that serves no useful purpose;
  • The continuing financial strain of the past 5-1/2 years;
  • The uncertainty of clearly discerning what Christ wants of me - or for me;
  • My frustration and disgust with the Church Hierarchy - including the Pope - as they groan, pussy-foot, coddle and now overtly embrace the acceptance-without-repentance of all sins of the flesh;
  • The outright anger at the same gilded-throne Hierarchy as they tout more concern for Mother Earth and non-existent global warming, than they do for the loss of Souls, the conversion of the masses to Catholicism or even of the dangers of Islam. Ecumenism and Salvation-for-all runs amok.

For most Catholics, much of the above is just a blip on life's radar, as they surround themselves with their spouses, children and Christ and find the fortitude, strength and courage needed to climb the mountain back to Peace of Soul.

Unfortunately, some of us are mired knee-deep in this evil tragicomedy known as divorce, and therefore are missing two-thirds of the foundation that can help us through such times. Not that Christ alone isn't sufficient enough, but we are mortal creatures after all, and sometimes need the physical, emotional and vocal support of those we love on earth to help us over and through these peaks and valleys. This weakened foundation is made all the worse by the harsh realities of divorce that have encased minds and hearts in emotional cocoons, and then keeps eating away at one's heart until every ounce of Love it has to give has been consumed by one or all of divorces' insipid and numerous by-products.

But is there is yet some measure (or treasure?) of goodness found even here? I believe so, for such was the Heart of Our Blessed Savior drained upon the Cross of every ounce of HIS Love for HIS children...and can a mortal Heart do any less? Will his own children, like many in Our Lord's time, come too late to the realization of the immensity of the Love that will, in time, cease only when the Heart does? What then of the pain in theirs, forevermore left unrequited, though ample opportunities came and went? One can only imagine, but the thought itself remains too painful to ponder for very long. At least for me...

Such as the above are what closed my 2015...

So...how has 2016 begun? Already I have been Blessed with:

  • A cancer free report from my doctor;
  • A great easing of the financial strain;
  • A light - albeit a very dim one, at present - of what God may want...

Though there is more, just those three above were enough to drive the "I-can-fix-it-all-myself" meme away and remind me of the "You can do nothing without ME" reality of Our Blessed Lord, the Savior and King of this wayward and now-seemingly atheistic world in which I live. Now, all I have to do is remember that for the rest of 2016.

Please remember to pray for the Holy Father, Pope Francis, and the Cardinals and Bishops who advise him. Pray for priests and for priestly vocations and for their correct formation in the seminaries.

Remember also, that we here below are just marionettes, whose strings that control our actions are tied securely to the fingers, hands and, most importantly, to the Sacred Heart of Our Lord and Savior.

My many, many thanks to the readers of this small endeavor; it is your continued clicks that help to keep me at the keyboard - and also a reminder from our Lord that it's not yet time to call it quits.

May you all have a Blessed and Holy New Year!
